Time to try a Foxtel setup (Help Please)

Hey guys,

First of all i just wanna thank all the posters who helped me with my media center setup.

I now have my media center up and running fine with Free to air channles going and using free epg for the guides. using a NovaT-500.

Now I have imaged my media center and ready to take on the Foxtel setup

Just bought a HVR-1300 PCI MCE which i hope will do the trick

I have gone through all the guides within the forum, but i would like to know were to start off

I have bought myself a SCART to s-video cable.

I havn't installed the new 1300 in yet. just wanted to get some expert views before i go right ahead.

i hope using both the NovaT 500 and the 1300 is posible within media center

Thanks again guys

Have a read in the tuners section of haw to install analogue and digital tuners at the same time, this is the core of what you are doing. If you want the guide setup for all Foxtel channels you will need to read that post as well. Things have changed a bit in the guide area recently with Free*EPG no longer doing the combined guide for you, but all the info and tools are around. (personally I never added a full guide when using Foxtel).

Basically you will:
1. Connect up your cabling
2. Set the STB to output SVideo signal (make sure you have an output SVideo cable and use the correct SCART port)
3. Take an image of your MCE just in case you break it big time (possible at the first attempt - I know I broke it a few times!)
4. Add the 3rd tuner to your MCE
5. Add the analogue channel (Foxtel)
6. Use happily all the new channels and still have nothing decent to watch

Re: Time to try a Foxtel setup (Help Please)

Thanks for that DDH

I have my Nova 500 (digital) installed at the moment and ill be adding the 1300 (analog) for foxtel tonight.

so 2 cards in total

i think the bellow thread is the one you are talking about

How to add a third (or more) tuner to MCE

UPDATE: dont think i want to go through with all regediting guys. last night i poped in the new 1300 card and tryed to set up tv with foxtel and it deleted my Nova T 500 and the channles.

Wanted to hook ip foxtel to record the footy, but the seasons over now.

gone back to just the one Dual Nova T 500. working great
