No Foxtel Guide using FreeEPG

With FreeEPG not doing Pay TV guide anymore has any tried the wmcGuideServiceProxy and xmltvDownload. I can't get it to work, I think it is because I haven't recieved the Licence file yet.

Or is there any other guides out that someone can recommend

Re: No Foxtel Guide using FreeEPG

There is definatly a way to do it, i also recommend that you send/make a small donation for the guys at epgstream

Here is the link to the current guide, written by Banger - Link

Also make sure you install this little gem of a patch from MS, to prevent guide corruption do to windows update. Guide Corruption fix

This post has the channels for foxtel that you can directly import into winproxy, this works well to allow only the paytv channels you wish to use in media center. One note, you may have to adjust some channels in the proxytool, by assigning thier correct foxtel numbering. Example Channel nine may be "Nine NSW" under say the last few entries, this needs to be adjusted to 100, same with 10/sbs/abc/102/107 if memory serves me correct. Link

Should you need more info re foxtel channel numbering scheme, check out the foxtel channel wiki, google will bring it up asap.

Also, in the XMLGrabber, i really suggest that you go through and choose the channels applicable to you, so as to keep the size of the raw XML file to a bare minimum. Should you download the complete xml from Oztivo, it will be around 7megs which i found gave me trouble when restarting the winproxy service.

Donating some moulah and getting licenses makes it a bit more worthwhile, these guys work hard and personally, i appreciated and donated

Re: No Foxtel Guide using FreeEPG

IF you are running Vista SP1, you will need to pause the guide setup at the Postcode screen, and restart the wmcGuideProxy so that MCE recognises the new guide service before typing your postcode in.

Re: No Foxtel Guide using FreeEPG

I also had a problem where the .xml file was not saving to the HDD and I had to change the default location to another directory before it made one.
May want to check if it is creating an .xml file just in case you are having the same problem.
