I have read many threads and it all looks really difficult.
However i have come up with a plan and wanted to see if it works.
I have a spare DViCO FusionHDTV DVB-T Plus. This happens to have a S video input. I was thinking as I want to keep VMC as normal as possible, I can use the software that you get with the card to watch FOXTEL?
Through the little knowledge that I have i am pretty sure that i would. It is a digital card but on this site it said it captues analogue video and audio - http://www.videohelp.com/capturecard...dvb-t-plus/714 . I then came across all of ths talk about the EPG's. Off the top of my head i think that the software that you get with the card enables you to use an EPG. If this is the case, will it work with FOXTEL. If so which EPG?
The plan from there is to then divert the recordings of the FOXTEL to the recorded TV folderin MCE. Hopefully i can watch recorded foxtel from there. If i end up with too many remotes then i will get a Harmony.
I already have 2 Haupauge twin digital tuner cards. This will not affect anything there?
You will indeed be able to capture Foxtel using the dVicos own software, but not in MC as the card is only supported there in Digital mode.
EPG won't be possible though, the card is talking about the Digital EPG obtained from the digital channel data stream. You'll have to change channels manually using the Foxtel remote, and setup start and end times manually using the dVico software. As for it affecting your existing setup, installing a new video card is likely to have some effect...... make a system image if you can before trying anything!!
You could always get the Foxtel IQ, or even better, get a tuner card that is supported in MC in analogue mode (Hauppauge 1300 for example) and have a go at getting your digital and the new analogue working together, plenty here have done it successfully, but takes a bit of fiddling.
Cheers

I looked up the 1300 and looks fine. Just wondering how it will work with MC. So far i have read that it needs to be analogue which it is. Does this mean that i will not be able to use EPG still?
You'll be able to use the EPG fine, as this comes from the internet, NOT the card. Media Center (atm) doesn't support capturing the EPG over the air (EIT), although the release of an update allowing it to do so is apparently imminent. It is possible to integrate it into media center, and it shouldn't affect your digital tv if you do it properly. But regardless of what you do, the EPG shouldn't be a problem, because it's downloaded.
It's not that hard to get foxtel/austar working with Digital FTA in MCE, I was very apprehensive about editing the registry before I read Wixkidders thread and had a go at it, now I have no fear. Do a bit of reading and if you are unsure ask, there's always someone who will help and when you do get it set up you will love it. BTW get a Hauppauge card with a hardware Mpeg encoder like the 1300 as TiggerK said or the PVR-150.
Oberg.

I am using epgstream.net to download the Foxtel program guide as XML.
The download seems to work Ok because I can see the brand-new file in my download directory.
BUT, VMC doesn't pick it up and no matter how hard I try, I cannot connect to that downloaded file. I've read epgstream's online info and can't see what I am doing wrong.
I suspect that VMC cannot see the new Guide because it's in the wrong directory. Where should the new downloaded file go or how do I configure VMC?
