Tuner Mix for DTV and Austar

Hi all,

Just in the process of designing my frst HTPC and have a question that I suspect the masses will be able to guide me on.

In terms of being able to have Austar in the HTPC does it matter if I use two of the same tuners (2 x Hauppauge HVR-2200) or two different types (Hauppauge HVR-2200 and a Hauppauge PVR-150).

I am leaning towards the second option of running two different cards so that I can select the tuner that needs to view/record the Austar (PVR-150) while the HVR-2200 will be used for the DTV.

Your input will be valued.

Cheers.

Re: Tuner Mix for DTV and Austar

IMO, you are better off with the added PVR150. The analogue part of the HVR2200 does have hardware mpeg2 encoding, which is vital for a payTV capture setup >>however, If you plan on using DTV and ATV together, they must have SEPARATE RF inputs >>from newmagics site:

True single PCIe slot design with single RF input for both tuners..
This means you'll only be able to use ATV on the tuners using foxtel. Its much cheaper to use a PVR150 or a dual analogue standalone if you really need 2 analogue tuners. Itd be a waste to have 2 DTV tunenr sitting there dormant!
