Austar Question & Vista

Well guys its been a while since my last post as everything has been running smoothly the last couple of years. Migrated from MCE2005 to Vista Ultimate and have never had a problem. The old philosophy if it aint broke don't touch it still holds true.

I just got a new flat mate who has installed Austar which I have never bothered with as I watch too much TV as it is. Although the Austar box records and all that crap it still cant surf the web, play DVD's or watch My Movies. On top of that an extra $15 a month so the box can record.

I am going to set up Austar on the standard STB through Vista Ultimate. It seems after reading these posts that even after all this time I will still need some sort of analogue or hybrid card e.g. "Hauppauge PVR 150" seems pretty reliable from what I have read.

Question can I install it as a third card as I currently have 2 Digital Dvico's or do I need to replace one of the digitals?

I know there seems to be instructions at the top of this forum but it does say August 2005

Cheers

Cowboy

Re: Austar Question & Vista

yep, you should have no probs adding that card. I have dual dvbt + pvr-150 running right atm. No probs at all.

The guide is OK, but doesnt have the details for the integrated digital and analogue setup.

I found Dizzy's guide most helpful. Im writing a newbie oriented guide myself but its not due for a cpl more weeks.

Dizzy's guide.
Digital and Analog TV (Guide)

in the meantime, pick my brain as much as you like !
