IR Blaster and Foxtel - changing channels not working..?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, I had a look around and couldnt find the answer, so heres my problem!

I set up Foxtel on my computer and I can manually change channels using the Foxtel remote pointed at the set top unit, but I cant seem to use the IR blaster properly or change channels using the keyboard.

When I type in "808" on the keyboard it sends "8048" to foxtel.. and the remote only works sometimes.

I tried moving the bud around and tested it but cant find a good place to stick it in front/on the foxtel unit. I cant see exactly where the infrared sensor is either..

Help please!! Its annoying not being able to change channels using the keyboard/remote, I think this will cause problems if I wanted to record things as well.

I'm using a Pinnacle tuner card and the IR blaster that came with it if that helps.

Extra digits are most likely due to incorrect setup of the remote type. You may need to go back through the set up process and ensure that MCE selects the correct remote for your STB. Stray digits are hard to come by any other way since they are all check-digited and don't just appear. You may want to consider the process during setup that asks you to press each button so that MCE "learns" the codes for your remote if you can't get it to select the right remote.

Yep - when it tells you to press and hold "0", tell it that it didn't work, it will then let you program every button.

It should be very accurate after that.

You should also force it to use "slow" when it wants to test the speed - again, when it asks if the channel changed correctly, tell it no, until it sets it to Slow.
