Exclamation Foxtel minus set top box?

Hi,

I have searched various threads and websites trying to find a simple answer to this question which is often asked in a round about way.

I am looking to buy/build a HTPC. I currently have foxtel and a foxtel IQ set top box.

Is it possible to use a HTPC to view/record foxtel without first running though a set top box? I still plan to keep paying for the service I simply would like to remove the set top box from my entertainment shelf. So is it possible to watch foxtel directly from the satellite using a paid foxtel membership and leave the set top box in the cardboard box? I understand the STB decodes the signal but want to know if there is another way to do this, and which card would I need?

Thanks for your help

Re: Foxtel minus set top box?

No, it's not possibe. It is (theoretically) for Austar as it uses a different encryption service that you can get PC CAMs for, but I don't know if anyone has managed to yet.
