Austar Cable and Digital Now Dual Hybrid S2

Gday People

Long time reader but i havent posted much.

Firstly let me say I have read extensively thru these posts and have tried just about everything suggested before posting.

My problem is this

Ive put together a HTPC in order to try and get Austar Cable to be able to play and Record on my Sony Bravia 46 inch X series

When i go thru the set up process with MCE in Vista Home Premium I can get the Tuner to

scan and receive and play all FTA Channels no probs.

But when i try and set up thru the Austar Box when it gets to the stage of scanning for the input .............I get Audio but no Video its connected thru a composite cable but does the same when it goes thru S Video as well.

After reading posts here i downloaded and installed the MCE encoder from Broadstar and got the same result Audio but no Video.

I then uninstalled that and tried installing the MCE encoder from Main Concept still the same result.

Out of curiousity i installed Dscaler and i was able to get the card working fully thru that on Vista so it just sounds like an encoding issue to me.

Any suggestions or assistance would be appreciated.

My next option is to go to a Hauppauge pvr 150 and get rid of the Digital Now card

Cheers

Krazykroc

Re: Austar Cable and Digital Now Dual Hybrid S2

Hi KK,
I get the same message when trying to add foxtel. Audio, but no video. I also tried s-video and composite, but same result. I keep getting the No Signal blue screeen error.
I also use the Digital Now Hybrid s2. I shelved the idea for a time when I have more...um time.
I hope we get some response to this thread.

Re: Austar Cable and Digital Now Dual Hybrid S2

I have built Media Centre and set up Austar/FTA systems for many of my friends. One thing I have noticed is that not all hybrids are created equal. When using hybrid cards on occassion to to view both Digital and Austar through anologue that I get the same problem as you have encountered on both composite and s-video. Set them up to watch both digital and and anoloque FTA from antenna, no problems.

I have found the true and tried method, that is works every time, is a digital card, as many as you want to watch and record Digital FTA off antenna and a specific Anologue Card I use the old Haupagge PVR 150 to setup your Austar through.

I have not tried all hybrid cards namely the compro T-300, T220a and the Leadtek DVT-1000 hybrid cards with no success in using the anologue side, utilising composite or s-video inputs, from within MCE or VMC along with other cards setup for Digital FTA.

But I can guarantee using a PVR 150 will work. I hope this helps.
