Austar - Twinhan & Irdeto CAM?

Hi all,

I've been searching the forums all afternoon/evening to see if it's still possible to have Austar running through VMC with a TwinHan Sat-Ci and Irdeto CAM? Most of the posts I found are quite old and I was wondering if anyone is using a setup like tha at the momentt? Also more often than the discussion realted to Foxtel not Austar so just wanted to check before I shell out any $$$.

I have had Austar feeding into a Hauppauge 1300 but if the sat card/cam setup works I would like to try that.

i would love a media centre, that gives digital FTA TV & also allows me to utilise Austar directly without changing inputs on the TV or AVR.

Re: Austar - Twinhan & Irdeto CAM?

There was a registry hack that made the MCE think a DVB-S card was a DVB-t card I'm not sure what cards were supported maybe someone can help.

Re: Austar - Twinhan & Irdeto CAM?

I have tried the DVB/DVB-S thing, the twinhan software was a pain. using the registry hack there should be a problem. I could not decrypt the satellite channels no matter which cams I used. looking at the lyngsat website, austar is using videoguard (maybe a recent thing)which is probably why.

I'm pretty sure Austar uses Irdeto 2.

Here's a link to a card that may be easier to get working in MCE, it says it has MCE drivers.

Thanks for all the responses

So this videoguard thing basically means that the whole idea of using a DVB-S card and CAM in VMC (If I actually got it to work) is a total waste of time and money then?
