Pay TV and FTA

Hi all I know there is a guide here for FTA and Pay TV at the same time but I thought I would ask a couple of questions before I dive in and get myself stuck.

Firstly I have an Avermedia Dual Hybrid card, does that mean that one tuner handles analogue and the other digital, or does the one tuner do both? Presumably I will need both as Foxtel will be via S-Video and FTA DTV Via RF.

If this is the case, from reading the tutorial I select my FTA DTV first before continuing on with the tutorial. It mentions that you should pick the PayTV option you wish to use later for the DTV FTA channels as well. Being that I have Foxtel Platinum would I pick this, then configure my digital, go along with the reg hacks, and then select Foxtel again but as analogue?

I have also seen a thread here for Avermedia's being able to use FM Radio within MCE, once I am setting up an analogue guide for Foxtel through my Tuner can I also configure Radio at the same time?

I've been trying to make sense of this tutorial for a while, I will have all the cables I need tomorrow for the tuner but want a good idea of what needs to be done in order to get it right the first time. Seems detailed enough but its very confusing.

So again to recap, what I will need to do is:

1. Install TV Tuner with relevant software and attach the correct cables etcetc (which I've pretty much done with exception of my RF and S-Video Cable)

2. Install EPG (which I have also done, along with the Vista Hotfix and reg fix)

3. Set up the guide using (in my case) Foxtel Platinum (or equivalent thereof) but actually set up the DIGITAL channels using this epg?

4. Reg hack etcetc (the hard part I don't understand)

5. Re-setup guide using the same epg (in my case) Foxtel Platinum (or equivalent thereof) but for ANALOUGE channels?

6. More reg hacking

7. Sit back and enjoy?

Is that basically the general flow of the tutorial, I know it sounds silly but it just looks really confusing and I'm starting to feel a little in over my head here. Also being that fox is already decoded and I don't plan on watching FTA Analogue will I still need that mpeg decoder?

Cheers, I hope I'm not being too nooby

Re: Pay TV and FTA

Well not having Foxtel, I can't help with your questions except the last.

The input from the analogue signal isn't encoded into mpeg-2, so you will need an encoder installed. The set top box just decodes the encrypted signal. The output is still analogue.

Re: Pay TV and FTA

From what I have read, Microsoft have a solution coming for Foxtel/Sky/directTV.

Re: Pay TV and FTA

It's been 10 days so you've probably worked it out, but Step 5 - the guide is only set up for FTA (selecting Foxtel Premium as the source). When setting up analogue, don't set up the guide again. Just go to the "add missing channels" and "add listings to channel" steps.
