Best recording and re-encoding from fox?

Hi all I have just ordered an Avermedia Dual Hybrid PCI-E 1x tuner from my local store which I am picking up tomorrow morning. I have read the tutorial and it seems simple enough to get working with the MS remote, and an additional IR blaster.

The tutorial did mention that you can record straight from the guide but I'm under the assumption these will be uncpmoressed mpeg2 style recordings? Ideally I would like to be able to record then re-encode eps back down to avis of standard size (175mb per 20 mins 300 per 40 mins etcetc). I hear web scheduler is good for recording but I'm not too sure what I should be using for re-encoding from here.

Also can web scheduler handle 2 tuners at once? As I may want to record off analogue (foxtel) and digital (Free-to-air) even though only the foxtel guide will be available within Vista Media Centre.

Cheers.

EDIT: Web Scheduler is only digital, back to the drawing board.

Do a search because you can have both FTA and Foxtel in the guide.

Mediacentre will record in DVR-MS format which is mpeg-2. You can set the quality options for analogue recordings in the Tasks Settings area. Not sure if it carries across when you do the hack though.

However, you could use MCEBuddy which runs as a service and will convert your DVR-MS recordings to whatever format you wish (h.264 reduces them to around 10% of the original file size)

Re: Best recording and re-encoding from fox?

Thanks, I have seen MCEBuddy in these forums before but generally like having the ability to secifiy and output size in terms of resolution and file size myself. If Windows Media Centre actually records to mpeg2 does anyone know if autoGK will format it (as its mpeg2 compatible).

Also could I get a link to having FTA and Foxtel in Vista Media Centre, every post I read had replies saying it can't be done.
