Getting data from the Foxtel IQ box

Hi,

I am asking on behalf of a friend who has just subscribed to Foxtel IQ. Does anyone know what format the box records content in? Also, is there any way to recover data from the machine, other than watching it via a TV or through AV leads.

There is a USB port on the box, however, it appears disabled. Does anyone know of any software that can be used to talk to the box, perhaps mounting the device on the desktop?

Any help or info would be appreciated.

Re: Getting data from the Foxtel IQ box

In short, the iQ is locked down pretty tight - you can't even access your recordings when the cable/satellite connection is down.

Recording is in raw format - even if you plugged the drive in to a PC, you'll struggle to get anything off it, but this software may help http://www.neildoh.org/Software/Extract/extract.htm - Foxtel's equipment is essentially the same as Sky in the UK.
