Getting free to air reception from foxtel socket?

Hi

I'm hoping someone here can help me. I have just a normal old style (analogue?) TV and would be happy with just normal free to air channels and don't want to pay for foxtel. I have a foxtel socket in my wall that is in a much more convenient place than the aerial socket. Can I somehow use the foxtel plug as an aerial and what would I need to buy to enable me to do this?

thanks

The Foxtel socket probably goes to a dish on your roof and not a FTA antenna, you would have to disconnect the coax from the dish side and connect it to the FTA antenna instead, yeah it mean crawling around in the roof space. If you Foxtel used to be cable then forget it altogether.

If it's Foxtel cable, then you used to be able to do that (i.e. Foxtel cable used to carry the FTA analogue channels unscrambled), but not anymore as the cable no longer carries any analogue signals.

If it's satellite, tracing things through the roof (assuming you're not in a multiple unit dwelling) & attaching that cable to your antenna or antennas splitter would work (as ExtremePC said).
