Re: austar is not digital signal

Ah I think you better do some reading on this site..

In short though, assuming this isn't a joke..

The digital signal sent for Foxtel and Austar must be tuned in by an appropriate Set Top Box (provided by the Foxtel or Austar). You can't just tune it in using a Digital Tuner card.

There are some providers, such as SelecTV that you can purchase a DVB-S (satelite) tuner card for, and with the appropriate CAMs, can tune that in via MCE, however due to the encryption used for Foxtel and Austar, this isn't possible for those services.

If you want Austar on your MCE system, you'll need an analog capture card to capture either composite out, or s-video out from your STB.

Good luck..

Re: austar is not digital signal

carlo67,

More reading still required

Ausstar's digital service will deliver a digital signal to the Ausstar set top box (STB). From the STB the signal is analogue. You can not just plug the Ausstar feed into your MCE somehow and expect it to turn up. What you need to do is take the analogue output of the STB and accept that into your MCE via an abnlogue capture / tuner card which is setup in MCE.

I hope this little bit of info helps you back onto a research path that enables you to move forward. I think you still have a long way to go in your journey - enjoy it.
