Proxy setup for oztivoextreme?

Hi guy's, I am behind a proxy server and I can't get around it. Is there a way to set oztivoextreme up to use a http proxy server?

cheers

Re: Proxy setup for oztivoextreme?

I'm not sure about oztivoextreme, but if there is nowhere to configure a proxy server in the program and it doesn't use the internet explorer settings then your best bet (assuming you have your router configured to allow web traffic only from your proxy server) is to configure a rule on your firewall/router to allow access to the oztivo update site from your HTPC in addition to the rule which limits web traffic from your proxy server.

Of course there are dozens of ways to accomplish the same thing depending on what software and hardware configuration your are using.

Re: Proxy setup for oztivoextreme?

I'm behind an enterprise firewall + ISA2005 + Websense at our company and I can't just change rules as I see fit.

I'm running MCE2005 on a HP dc7600 and I can not change any settings on our firewall, isa server or web blocking service. Can you elaborate on one of the dozens more way's to do it? Just one solution will do.

Thanks in advance

Re: Proxy setup for oztivoextreme?

Bugger. Unfortunately, the only way to make it work as documented would be to make the firewall change. Is it possible to download the XML data direct rather than using the grabber program? If this is possible, then you could perform a manual download and save it in the correct location for BRP. I would suggest you contact the author and see if a proxy option can be added. If memory serves, this would only be a couple of lines of code to use the proxy settings configured in IE. If you're also being blocked by your web filter then perhaps it's time to try a little bribery. Single malt scotch is always a good starting point.

Sorry I can't be of more help

Re: Proxy setup for oztivoextreme?

I appreciate your help, I'll get the jrobbo xmltv files until I can figure something out. I might run it on one of our servers in the DMZ.

And I wish I could bribe the guy that would ok the changes to the firewall but he is a complete ar**hole... and unfortunately my boss!
