OzTivo Extreme Released (Update Required)

Quote:
All, as part of our ongoing effort to split the extremely large tvguide.pl
script into a number of smaller scripts, today I've written a new script
just for downloading XML data:

http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-bin/xmlguide.pl

It takes two GET parameters: station=station_name & daynum=day_number
It returns Content-type: text/plain followed by the current XML output.
In other words, it's a direct replacement for tvguide.pl with parameters
page=rawstationday&type=view&data=day_number&data2 =station_name.

We will run both the old tvguide.pl XML interface and the new xmlguide.pl
interface in parallel until a flag day (not yet determined) when the old
tvguide.pl XML interface will be disconnected.

Will, the change to your grabber should be minimal. Let me know if I can
do anything my end to help with the transition. In particular, what can
I send from tvguide.pl after the flag day to indicate a sensible error
to your grabber? Also, is Content-type: text/plain suitable, or would
you prefer some other content type?

Thanks all,
Warren
Monster has been hard at work at OzTivo Extreme, which utilises the new OzTivo API, ensuring faster downloads (for PayTV it cuts the download time from ~25min to around 5). This update is needed for continued operation, as you would be aware OzTivo has failed since Thursday.

OzTivo Extreme can be downloaded here and an up to date instruction guide is here

Re: OzTivo XML Change

Hey, thanks for the info! Are you having any troubles with OzTivo data yet? I can't seem to get data beyond Monday, although the website shows the channels as 100% full.....

Cheers,
~Dane.

Re: OzTivo XML Change

I don't think that think should prevent listings from being downloaded yet....they are still keeping the origional URL...until all these grabbers get moved over.

Re: OzTivo XML Change

Well my oztivo.exe is now failing. Worked without a problem until now.

It connects ok to the Oztivo website and starts to download - it fails after the 2nd channel with this error message:

BladeRunner Pro... A Native EPG Solution, Like Know Other
----------------------------------------------------------------

Special thanks go out to...

MONSTER for deciphering and supplying the native EPG code... LEGEND!!!
CORNELIU for his AMAZING multi-threading work and general guidance
BJREPLAY for the one and only QuickGuide... YOU ROCK!

And last but not least a BIG hello to all the boys at XPMCEAU...

Without these people none of this would be possible...

Hope you enjoy...

Re: OzTivo XML Change

Delete ABC2 from your preferences at the Oztivo website.

Seems the data has a problem for this channel at the moment.

Re: OzTivo XML Change

Quote:
Will and I are working on a small change to the XML
fetch process, so that a single XML request will get all data for a
station from today onwards. This will mean less XML requests to my box
and hence lessen the load. Will should have a new grabber out in a few days.

So I am going to set an arbitrary "XML transition flag day" of September 8th.
On that day, XML fetching using the http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-bin/tvguide.pl
URL will stop working. But from now onwards, XML fetching using the URL
http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-bin/xmlguide.pl will work, and is the preferred
URL to use.

That gives us a month to ensure the new system works, and for everybody to
switch over to the new fetcher.

Who writes the MCE fetcher? Just some quick details about the new protocol:
The parameters to http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-bin/xmlguide.pl are:

station= is always required

daynum= is optional. If specified, only data for that day is returned.

daynumfirst= is optional. If specified, data from that day onwards
is returned.

If neither daynum nor daynumfirst are specified, data from today
onwards is returned.

Both daynum and daynumfirst are the number of days since Jan 1, 1970.
They must be in integer format. The station parameter is a station name,
and must be one of the stations known to tvguide.pl.

A valid <tv ...> ... </tv> document is always returned, with
Content-type: text/plain. The document may contain no guide data, e.g
if the station/daynum combination has no guide data.

If an error occurs, the document will only contain a single
<message>...</message> pair. The error messages so far are:

Missing station parameter.
Error connecting to internal database.
Station S does not exist.

Monster I know it's no consolation but the last Virgin flight I had a month or so ago I ended up as sick as dog after consuming one of their "sandwiches". I think it was a sandwich.

Re: OzTivo XML Change

I've been told to note this;

Quote:
Can you confirm that the MCE grabber will either understand or suitably ignore the following:

-- Previous Message --
<episode-num system="xmltv_ns"> 0 . 1 . </episode-num>

And a show that has a producer supplied episode number of 76 would be:

<episode-num system="onscreen">76</episode-num>
