MyMovies question

I am looking at a way to keep track of my (growing) DVD collection. Currently I have a spreadsheet to list them, but that's not user friendly.

I am looking at MyMovies but don't want to manually key in all my DVDs (life's too short for that), so does MyMovies allow you to import your movie titles from a spreadsheet?

What I want is to have a reasoable database of my movies - they aren't ripped to HDD - but I want to tracke them.

Also, anyone have a similar thing for CDs? Not all mine are ripped (or will be) but I'd like to track them.

Re: MyMovies question

Can't see why it wouldn't be possible, since MyMovies uses SQL. You'd probably need to play with SQL DTS (in 2000 version) or the equivalent in 2005 to do it, but it should be possible.

Re: MyMovies question

You don't need to do anything. Just point MyMovies to the proper directories and based on the folder name IE: "Transformers", It'll choose the proper title and covers and link it to the proper folders. There is a setting for "Loose, Strict, and Confirmative" when it comes to this feature.

That is unless you don't have them ripped to your hard drive at all you have is a spreadsheet... Then I have no clue!

Re: MyMovies question

Looking at the program though, it does appear to have an import feature for "DVD Profiler XML". Also, you can always just type in/scan in the DVD UPC barcodes.

Install it and try it out!

Re: MyMovies question

I'm reviving this one again as I have been playing a bit with MyMovies in a test rig.

Anyone using MyMovies able to tell me how good the download database is? Particularly for Australian releases. If I go off just teh barcodes is there a pretty good coverage or will I be forced to hand key all the information in?

Re: MyMovies question

From what I've seen the australian release coverage is pretty good (though I don't use the barcodes). It also depends on how particular you want to get. If the australian release isn't in the database there is generally a UK or US version.

Based on what Trickery mentioned could you manually create the folders for each movie (I don't think you need anything in the folder) and let My Movies create the data for you! Might be quicker than doing them one by one.
