Open Source UI Project & MCML Development Blog an

If I started one at Sourceforge and contributed my code so far, would people be interested in joining forces on an open source (LGPL) UI library to let people develop interfaces that looked and worked like Media Center, without using any of the undocumented UI's?

OK - not that the MCML is really THAT well documented in the first place

80-90% of my development time with Yougle was getting the user interface right. Personally, I don't think we should HAVE to put this much work in, and if it is out there and it's free, I think we would get a hell of a lot more media center development done, not to mention get a whole bunch of new developers in who would have otherwise been put off by the workload.

So who is with me? Any takers?

I've also started an informal blog/guide about my MCML experiences. You can read it at http://mediacenterdev.blogspot.com/

I think it's a great idea, but I don't have anything to contribute as I have yet to program for Vista. I know with my 05 apps UI was a big pain in the arse. I hope you can get this going, sorry I can't contribute yet

awesome idea.

I think it would also be cool if we had a spot where creative-non-coders could put ideas, and us uncreative-coders could get some inspiration about what to build with this library.

Thumbs up Re: Open Source UI Project & MCML Development Blog an

I would love to. I'm a C#/.NET 2.0 developer and would love to start making stuff for my Media Center. Count me in.
