Hey guys,
First off fantastic forum.. Haven't seen a bad post yet..
I have previously played with Linux back when kernel 2.0 was a pipedream.
Got divorced, so gave up on Linux (I was far too freaked out to deal with that OS as well).
Now I'm back! I'm retiring 3.2GHz XP Based machine, so why not gut it and turn it into a Linux MCE.
One big question though:- Which TV Tuner card?
I need two things:- dual channels - important
analog signal reception - not so import
Is this card really any good for Australia Terrestrial Digiatl? >> pcHDTV 5500
This completes my first post... Cheers guy.. MadMick

Backend: Mythbuntu 8.1- ASUS M3A, AMD AM2 4800+, 2G RAM, 4T HDDs, NVIDIA 8500GT, Ultraview Plus, Dvico Fusion 4, Hauppage NOVA T-500, Sound by BOSE, Giant TVs by Phillips & LG, plus a flock of Frontends all over the house; WAF = 4.5/5
I can recommend the Hauppauge Nova T 500 MCE. It's a half height dual DVB tuner. It works nicely in my machine and is available currently in stores.
I bought one recently from CPL in Melbourne. Currently listed at $179.
Cheers,
Arkay.
Thanks for that, yes i drive past that place on my way home from work, i'm currently working out what parts to get and was stuck on the tuners.
Would i be able to watch foxtel thru them too

Hi Arkay,
I'm currently looking at changing from WMCE to MythTV and my current tuner doesn't work with MythTV / Mythbuntu.
Seeing your post, I'm hoping that I've found the answer, but juts want to confirm. Are you successfully using the Hauppauge Nova T 500 MCE card with MythTV straight up, or did you have to do some driver installing / rom flashing / etc to make it work?
Also, does MythTV support the dual tuners (ie, records 2 seperate programs at once).
And lastly - what are you using for a remote in MythTV?
Sorry for all the questions, but I've been burnt once trying to get MythBuntu setup, and want to make sure I purchase the correct gear this time.
FoxTV isn't an issue for me - I just need something that is dual tuner based.
