Talking Suse and eAR OS install, what a mess

One thing the Ubuntu writers got right is the Grub boot loader when used with multiple OS boot. Suse at the contrary doesn´t get it right.

Part1: After installing Suse 11.0 my whole multiple Boot system was a complete mess. When pressing Mint boot, Vista would start booting in an endless cycle. Pressing Ubuntu would give me XP or nothing. To make a long story short, I decided to create an extra partition and install eAR OS. Just for fun and to solve the problem. I was right. All the different OS started working again. .So far so good.

Part2: I noticed something particular with eAR os though. Whilst going through the install procedure I filled out the password section as per normal. I.e. User: Willem, pasw: Mypassw and continued. After everything was installed and switched the autologin option off I noticed that neither my login name nor my paswd chosen during setup was recognised. I had to use eARmusic/eARmusic which are the login/passwd by default set by the developer. THis would give him access to my system without any further.
This is the situation: 2 users: root/root and Earmusic at /Home/Earmusic were /home/earmusic is te MCE section. I tried to change this by adding myself to the users of /home/earmusic. I.e. Login: Willem at /home/earmusic THis is where the real trouble started. I tried to login again but got the error : file should be owned by user and have 644 permission. Whatever I tried, I could not login under any name anymore. Re-installed, did some research, found a number of chown and chmod commands from users with the same problems, apllied these and found myself locked out again.

My question, how can I get rif of that pesky earmusic login and use my own to get access to the mce section of Ear? I could simply change the password for the user Earmusic but is this sufficient?

Re: Suse and eAR OS install, what a mess

Suse 11 is without any doubt the buggiest Linux I've laid my hands on. Not only doesn't it get the booting order right, with my third install it keeps on freezing after login. no way to get out, not even with CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE. Same whe trying to getin via fail safe, lock up after 30 seconds and that's it. No drama's, got another 9 os to work with.
