How long is a piece of string, what is the sound of one hand clapping, what is the dry weight of an unladen sparrow?

Tell us more about your system and we can problably help a bit more.

My home entertainment is now running on mythbuntu, using a 7300GT, so I'll need to do something about HD capability as well.

However, it does seem to me that Nvidia cards are better supported than AMD (ATI) cards(??)

Assume you are asking advice about capture cards? You need a DVB-t capture card which will capture HiDef TV. Digital Now TV cards have been used sucessfully with MythTV. You can find a list of supported TV capture cards on the MythTV website.

Oopss. My mistake. For the OP, PCI-Express are a no-no. See the MythTV Wiki.

I finished setting my box up with "left over" tuners/ capture cards. Older & well established hardware is best with linux.

FWIW, my MythBuntu runs 2 X ULTRAVIEW PLUS (they come up as DVICO), 1 X TWINHAN DBV-TV 878 and 1 X LEADTEK DTV1000T.

I've had to put up a second antenna to provide enough signal to the four cards. Without the second signal source video starts to break up & stutter.

regards
