More PlayTV Info

I am a convert. With future support of being able to play games whilst you still record tv (i know xbox can do this but only by being seperate from another PC ) and the sony instruction manual teling you how to upgrade hdd (ome on MS) not to mention Divx and blu ray support this is a goer.

first article is a preview by IGN

http://au.gear.ign.com/articles/854/854960p1.html

2nd article is the fact that PlayTV recorded tv will be not be protected in anyway. It will be a clean mpeg-2 file.

Re: More PlayTV Info

Looks interesting. Although I do note some things that I haven't read before that do limit it's functionality.

1. No series recordings, only one off, daily or weekly recordings can be scheduled. Sounds strange to me.

2. Can only record one show at a time. So if you use padding (although the articles don't mention padding) you're stuffed.

Those two would be showstoppers for me. Although, I'm sure they'll be rectified at some point via updates, as Sony seem to listen when it comes to the PS3.

It may become a very "the same" Sony Corp now that HD-DVD is no longer a threat. Time will tell I guess.
