WinTV HVR-2200

My 2005 MCE loads up and starts live TV beautifully - very stable - then without fail becomes very unstable about an hour later. Thinking of trying Media Portal. Does anyone know if a Media Portal compatible driver for the HVR-2200 is available, or if the latest WMCE driver on Hauppauges site (Win TV-PVR Media Center driver CD version 3.2) will work with Media Portal?

Hi mm,
Before going to Media Portal I would encourage you to try to fix your MCE.
Could you post your hardware configuration and what mpeg decoder do you use?

Re: WinTV HVR-2200

Have you tried using the Newmagic drivers for this card?

Re: WinTV HVR-2200

Thanks vbap,
Rang Newmagic - apparently the driver may be suitable for Media Portal if it accepts bda drivers and DVBT. Downloaded it and will try after investigating video card possible problem - refer reply to vlad.

Re: WinTV HVR-2200

Thanks vlad
3GHz dual core Pentium D, 2GB RAM, ASUS A9550GE graphics card, ASUS P5VDC-MX motherboard, DELL 24" mon
Unreliability as detailed caused me to reinstall (problem existed before this) AVerMedia A16AR PCI TV card. All TV and graphics cards have latest MCE drivers. MCE loaded with Nvidia pure video mpeg decoder for HVR-2200.
Guy at Newmagic (refer reply to vbap) suggested it could be graphics card overheating if it doesn't have a fan. Never does that out of WMCE but he thinks WMCE may be tougher on card.

Try to use PowerDVD decoder, you can get a trial version.
I had problems with PureVideo on my rig, seems PowerDVD works better.
You can use this utility to check/switch between decoders.

Thanks Vlad,
PowerDVD gives same result - reliable for an hour then staggering, breakup and then no video (station audio continues sometimes). I will try WinDVD for it's decoder but I suspect problem lies elsewhere. I'm not convinced it's Video card overheating - I'm in Tas and temperatures are very moderate at the moment and I never get any problems like this out of WMCE after hours of viewing. My many days of spending hours on trying to get WMCE to work are drawing to an end.

Hehe.. Don't give up. Some of us have been trying for 4 years!

Seriously though. Take the lid off the case and run it like that. See if the same issue happens and when. If it still happens in the same time frame I'd say it isn't heat related.

Cheers,

Arkay.

Re: WinTV HVR-2200

Is it also possible to try using the on-board graphics to isolate video card issue?
