Alright so I'm easily impressed but I can't believe what just happened.
I had the morning off and so I thought I might spend it giving the latest
Mythbuntu a whirl.
It's based on Gutsy Gibbon Ubuntu 7.10. I started at 9 and I have now;
- got the guide working
- all video working lovely with the proprietary drivers
- remote configured and working (albeit in a very basic fashion)
- spdif output is working for Dolby 5.1 and stereo
- all channels scanned and configured
- my network and ntfs drives visible and accessible
All this and and I'm now listening to music despite Myth's bastard of a music interface (oh well at least I don't have album art issues

).
So a little over an hour and a half later and I have accomplished easily something I have been trying to do for years.
All of the plugins are included in the package so I've a ways to go yet in terms of being finished configuration but given the standard so far I'm looking forward to seeing what else I can do with this puppy.
So if you've been thinking of plunging into the arcane world of Myth-TV, its never been easier.
