A very exhausting endeavour

I've tried to look hard for answers here and elsewhere but still no cigar. Please bear with me.

I have two tuners: Winfast DTV2000H and DNTV Live Hybrid LP S2

I wasn't supossed to buy a 2nd card but I was so frustrated to the point of making an irrational decision to get the DNTVLive card-- the first card just couldn't get SBS nomatter what software or driver I install. So now it's all good cause the second card gets all the channels, but...

Now, all I want to do is record shows using an epg. The record part is good as well as the epg prt. The problem is when I'm recording a show using DNTV Scheduler Pro I'm not able to watch the channel at the same time. I COULD do this with Winfast's software but there's no option for epg. I'd either have to manually input the schedule or hit the record button straight away unlike Scheduler pro where I just click the show and hit the schedule button.

To sum it all up:
1. Winfast DTV2000H can't get SBS (even manually)
2. Still looking for software that works like Scheduler Pro PLUS being able to actually watch the same channel that's being recorded. Mediaportal doesn't work.
3. I'd also like to watch two channels at the same time. Is this possible only with dual tuners? Can't I do this with two single tuner cards?

So can anyone please help me? Pretty please?

Re: A very exhausting endeavour

i use the same dntv live card with mediaportal. i can record and watch tv at the same time, including recording 2 shows at once and watching one of the recording channels (cant watch two channels at the same time though). are all channels assigned to the card properly? and is media portal recognising both digital cards?

Re: A very exhausting endeavour

Thanks for replying Leigh.

Ok I tried Mediaportal again. It's working this time, but just to start "clean" I set it to use just the DNTV card. Channels all there so, good. Now I'm trying to figure EPG out. I follow the instructions here: http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/Med...alSetup_WebEPG and I was able to get the data, but when I schedule a recording there's no epg to be found. Why can't it be as easy to set as Scheduler Pro?

Re: A very exhausting endeavour

Just some general guide from my humble experience.

1. Use the same TV tuners.
2. If you have different ones, sell one and get second of the same kind as first.
3. Do not adventure from this trio: Avermedia/Hauppauge/DNTV.
It will not help your current problem, but may put some ideas into you for the future.

Re: A very exhausting endeavour

are you able to view the guide data when you are in media portal?

i dont use that grabber i use this one:
http://www.team-mediaportal.com/file.../GetOzTvGuide/

works fine for me. it essentially runs as an application on its own and dumps the guide data into the correct mediaportal folder. you can either manually run the application to grab the data whenever you need it, or you can set up a scheduled task (in windows) to run it once a day.
