LinuxMCE 1.1 and KDE 4

I'm very critical of LinuxMCE, mainly because the author(s) IMO represents it as something that it isn't.

Anyway, I see the beta for 1.1 is out. The Wiki, which is here, claims:

Also, the KDE core developer, Aaron Seigo, has confirmed that KDE and LinuxMCE make a nice fit, and the plan is to integrate the LinuxMCE project into KDE for the highly anticipated KDE 4.0 release. Now with LinuxMCE, KDE will also deliver home/media PC users a media-rich experience with lots of eye candy and a 10' UI.
Interesting to say the least. If it's true, that is. And if it'll work...

Re: LinuxMCE 1.1 and KDE 4

His demo video is the most bias thing i have ever seen
I got ubuntu up and running perfectly all drivers installed and everything setup
installed linuxMCE 1.0 and it changed the drivers screwed with the resolution, my tv card was not supported but i knew this already i just wanted to have a look.. i was not impressed considering its "out of the box" hype it was a dud i know many people probably got it working correctly with alot of bother, just enter the forums and its a world of pain!!
It may one day become something but at the moment its not very impressive IMO
I will stick with my VMC as it works bloody great...

My laptop still remains pclinuxos

I've made similar criticisms. Nevertheless, I'd like to be optimistic that with with the support of the KDE group it LinuxMCE might eventually deliver.

BTW, I use Kubuntu (Feisty). A friend is trying to convince me to go to pclinuxos. But I figure if it isn't broken, why fix it.

And when it does break, I will fix it. Like I fixed Red Hat by moving to Mandrake 8.1. When Mandrake 10 broke I moved to Suse. When they stuffed YAST in a major Suse upgrade (Novell) I found Ubuntu. When the Gnome desktop gave me a PITA a year or two ago I went to Kubuntu.

That's the nice thing about Linux- plenty of choice

regards
