Topfield TF6000

Has anyone here had useful experience with the Topfield TF6000 - I'm thinking of ditching the MCE box and am looking for options.

Thanks

Re: Topfield TF6000

I checked these out as well and was waiting for the TF7000HDPVRt to come out (2 x HD tuners) to have a good look at it.

But in the end, whilst they might be a cool option for watching and recording FTA TV, that's about all they can do, and these days it seems that I'm serving as much as 50% of my family's media content from my server in the back bedroom - and probably 50% of that goes to the Xbox360 - and that's what knocked further consideration of these units on the head for me.

Thanks. I'm just fed up to the back teeth with MCE's periodic breakdowns and 'features' like the wonderful stuttering to which there seems no cure when it strikes.

Clearly I need a reliable "black box" to drive the TV.

regards

Re: Topfield TF6000

I also have been waiting for a simple MCE replacement and saw this in JB
Teac HDRM7250 pdf
Twin HD 250G PVR with "Ethernet".

All looks good just run a NAS.

Except not sure on the EPG, has internet but does that mean an IceEPG? I like my series record ability

These have NO network connection and appear very overpriced for what they are...are they not?? If so I would be over this as a product!

Especially since update is only via USB and only USB is on the back of the unit!!! Astonishing.

Re: Topfield TF6000

A very stubborn friend didnt want to do the mce thang and paid $1200 for one of these.... regrets it to his very back teeth now, considering I have built the many of his friends mce rigs for about or below that price. He loves his avis and networking, and gaming for that matter....and yet he still went for the topfield... ah well... you live you learn

PVRs are something you by for your old man...whose tech knoweldge goes as far as "on" and "record"

scan slower, mate.
It has 1 tuner and no IceTV support.
I wonder is people from Topfield have any idea that if they combined their 7000 PVR with capabilities of TFP-20 and put a network card in it, then they would have a lot bigger market of people who have become disappointed or don't have tech abilities to handle HTPC.
