Picture breaking up using extender

Most TV recordings play via my DMA2200 extender without any problems. Large files, such as movies, though, start to show blocky images after about 20 minutes which quickly gets worse until the picture is completely broken up. There is often some corruption of the sound too. Stopping and resuming playback fixes it for about another 20 minutes.

I’m using a wireless 11n connection to the DMA2200 at the moment, but it does exactly the same with a wired connection. The PC is wired to the router.

Any suggestions, please?

Re: Picture breaking up using extender

When you run a wired connection, is it gigabit or 100Mb? Gigabit LANs often show this.

Also, you can tweak the network bandwidth/buffer available for the extender - not sure how, but you should be able to find some info.

Re: Picture breaking up using extender

I've tried gigabit and 100Mb and messed about with the adapter settings like flow control too. The DMA2200 only has 100Mb wired, so you can't change that. What baffles me is that it only does it with long recordings, but it happens when they are a relatively short way into playback.

Also, although I haven't specifically experimented with buffering, I think VMC adjusts the seetings when you change from a wired to a wireless connection, and I get the problem with both.
