DMA2100: Slow to boot, or just me??

Hi Guys,

Have a DMA2100 for out the back.

For a solid state device, it seems to take a LONG time to start.

25 seconds form power up until something on the screen, THEN it has to connect to my VMC...

Is this normal?

As I leave my VMC on 24/7, would there be any probs (overheating, dropping from network), if I also left the DMA2100 on 24/7, for faster access?

Am connected via cable, as even tho only 2m, and 1 brick wall, from my Belkin N1 Vision, the wireless link was EXTREMELY slow...

Yep. They all seem to be the same. DMA2200 as well. Fairly ordinary response IMO.

Yeah I'm having the same experience. The device on the whole seems unfinished and I don't see many fixes rolling out. Having to constantly change the Fourcc code on my files is getting old.

Re: DMA2100: Slow to boot, or just me??

Yeah, my DMA 2200 is the same - They are woefully underpowered IMGO.. Ive read that the HP extender is better as is the D-Link 750 extender - apparently they both have more horse power than the linksys. I dont use mine - the PQ is crap, especially when viewing the menu, its slow to navigate and feels like 80's tech!

Re: DMA2100: Slow to boot, or just me??

Yeah, the HP looks the goods. It's only slightly larger than the DMA2100 & it has its own media player software as well as MCX.

The part about it that concerns me is that it has got its own media player software - it shouldnt need it - the extender should do everything.. The only reason I can think of for them putting in their own media player software is that they think the extender itself is ****house!?
