DMA 2100 via Ethernet, will any Wireless N Router work?

If I connect to a DMA 2100 (or DMA 2200) can I then use any Wireless N Router?

I get the impression that to connect wirelessly to to the DMA 2100 the only wireless router that is known to work is the matching Linksys Router.

Also, can I use the DMA 2100 (via Ethetner) wiith a Wireless G Router for still pictures and possibly music? I understand that more than 54 MBPS is requierd for HD movies.

Thanks

Re: DMA 2100 via Ethernet, will any Wireless N Router work?

I think the recent firmware update has helped.

On the original firmware, I couldn't get my DMA2100 to successfully talk to my wireless router but I tried it again last night (post firmware update) and it now works perfectly! I'm using an old Belkin pre-N router too...

You'll struggle to get any decent speed over most wireless connections, even 802.11n, but the newest N series routers are supposedly much better. I'd still highly recommend wired though, if possible.

Justin.

Re: DMA 2100 via Ethernet, will any Wireless N Router work?

I've got the LinkSys WRT350N wireless-n router - I would not recommend this router due to the ongoing problems I have had the last 3 months (regular signal drop out with 2x laptops every -10mins even with latest firmware). Many others have reported poor performance as well as the poor reviews (see http://reviews.cnet.com/networking-a...tag=prod.txt.1)

The LinkSys 310 seems to get better reviews but the current favourite wireless-n router seems to be the D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router.

If I was starting all over again for my home media streaming network again I would try ethernet over powerline (reported very reliable, good signal stregths since walls don't matter and speeds 85Mb/s and 200Mb/s). The BELKIN 85MBPS POWERLINE TURBO ADAPTER KIT is approx $125 for two adaptors (see http://www.shopbot.com.au/search.asp...line&orderby=p).

I first tried my wireless-g router, everything is very slow; menus etc so you can do pictures, music is sketchy depending on the quality of your wireless connection.

Re: DMA 2100 via Ethernet, will any Wireless N Router work?

I use the Linksys WRT350N and have good results both wired and wireless. In the end I prefer wireless. The reason: In my case the issue with kb929707 (choppy playback + network issue warnings) could only be solved when I trottle back to 100mb. That is no problem for the DMA2100 but reduces my overall network performance.
I would like to know if other routers have no problem with the kb929707 issue.

I might be going senile but I thought the OP was asking about using a WIRED connection to the router not wireless.

Re: DMA 2100 via Ethernet, will any Wireless N Router work?

Have a DMA 2100 works nice wireless but can't get the Ethernet conection to work.

Conection is fine have tested with Laptop.

the DMA reconizes the network but will not attach, have been on the phone with Linksys support and they seem puzzled.

All LCD's are Green and flashing, router shows device connected and device shows connection.

The router I am using is a Actiontec M1424wr.

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and been able to correct.
