DMA2100 - XVid/AC3 Audio problem

When I play XVids on my DMA2100 which have AC3 audio, the audio cuts in and out every 5 seconds or so. Very annoying! I can see the "Dolby Digital" light on my amp blink on and off when this happens.
The audio playing via normal stereo thru my TV plays normally, so if I mute the amp and turn up the TV I can hear the movie, but crappy sound.
Anyone else have this problem? MP4s, H264 etc all seem to be fine, I've narrowed it down to XVid with AC3 audio stream on the DMA 2100.

Re: DMA2100 - XVid/AC3 Audio problem

For some strange reason they don't support xvids with AC3 - one of those quirks that they'll hopefully fix.

It's like the fourCC divx headers - if changing the header makes them play, why can't they write acceptance of the header in to the DMA?

Re: DMA2100 - XVid/AC3 Audio problem

OK thanks - that does indeed suck. Yes I hope they fix it!
Is there a recommended conversion and tool for XVid audio streams on the Linksys then? I have a bunch of conversion tools but I don't want to try trial and error for the next 2 months to find the right solution...

Re: DMA2100 - XVid/AC3 Audio problem

I haven't had to do it much, but I used to have to for a little hard drive media player that had the same problem. I used super to output a new AVI with the video untouched (think it's called stream copy), but the audio changed to MP3.

There is another option in thread: Converting DIVX to work with Media Extender
