Exclamation New DMA2100/2200 Firmware

Good news all DMA2x00 users (I think),

new firmware for these boxes are available.... errr... on the linksys ftp site, which is strange. But, they are there.

Strangely, the upgrade file for the DMA2100 is an ISO, which is why I said that I think it's good news.... I'm not at all sure how I'm supposed to mount a CD image on a device that doesn't have an optical drive There is an XML file in the ISO that mentions "USB update", so maybe the files have to go on a USB key and into the USB service port... but that doesn't explain why it's an ISO! I may try that when I get home.

Still, I'm sure the answer will arrive soon!

Updates in the firmware include:
  • Network stability improvements.
  • HDMI improvements.
  • Menu layout/speed improvements.

Wireless may even work

Good luck everyone... and if someone works out how to update the 2100, please post it!

OK - I give in - how do you upgrade the firmware on the DMA2200? On the website it implies 1.1.6 is available?

I have a DMA2200 with 1.1.0 - I try the menu selection to upgrade firmware and it tells me there is nothing new.

I download the ISO for 1.1.6 - but can't figure out how to use it? I tried booting from the ISO as a CDROM - I tried copying the contents to a USB - still nothing new found?

Any thoughts,
Col.

Re: New DMA2100/2200 Firmware

OK for those who cannot update the firmware online I can tell you that I also downloaded the firmware and burned a CD. I tried restarting the DMA with the CD inserted, I tried running the "Check for updates" option, I tried copying the contents to a flash drive and anything else I could think of. In the end I rang Linksys support and after some tests they believe there may be a bug applicable to some of these machines. They have promised to get back to me by tomorrow with a resolution so I will keep you posted.

Re: New DMA2100/2200 Firmware

Looks like the update will be available remotely via the 'check for updates' option in the linksys menu at some stage without the need for CD or USB update.

If I understood the guy at Linksys support correctly it should already be working. If it isn't then something must be wrong and that's why they're going to get back to me today. (Or they are supposed to. They were supposed to contact me around 1:00pm but I haven't heard anything yet.)

Re: New DMA2100/2200 Firmware

I had an older device from linksys - it was a media player - I forget the model number now, but it always had different firmware for Australia compared to the US model.. The Aussie model was always behind and we needed to wait MONTHS for the same revision to be released here. The only way to trick it into installing was to do some hacky DNS stuff to make the device think it was talking to the Australian server when infact it was getting the firmware off a local FTP server. (the US firmware)

Edit: After some thinking, I think the device was a DLINK, but regardless - if this is the issue, we may need to wait for linksys Australia to release the firmware for our device.
