Dismal menu picture quality with DMA2200

I have a DMA2200 connected to my 42" HD plasma via component and also tried via HDMI.

Regardless of the connection method, the picture quality is 'soft' compared to say my media center.

Its especially noticable when navigating through the Media Center menu - its just not sharp - its also slow! (I run a gigabit network to)

Anyone noticed the crappy picture quality?

Im running in 1080i Component 50hz (also tried 720p 50hz - no difference)

When connected via HDMI its not detecting the correct plasma res and I only get two options - I have read this is a bug and will need to be fixed in firmware?

Re: Dismal menu picture quality with DMA2200

Yeah, I think the component out is too soft. I'm quite happy with the HDMI out.

In regards to the slow menus, do yourself a favour & turn of menu transitions. You do it through the MCX session on the Linksys: Start>Tasks>Settings>General>Visual & Sound Effects & uncheck Use Transition Animations - this will only disable it in the extender profile - it won't disable it on the VMC itself, so don't worry about that.

You can't get 720p in the HDMI settings? By default mine went to 1080i (due to the EDID I think), but I was able to change it outside of the extender session (the Linksys black background settings screens).

Re: Dismal menu picture quality with DMA2200

Hi

Thanks for the tip regarding the transitions.. Its a bloody shame - these are supposed to be the ants pants and they cant even handle the menu properly!

When using the HDMI output (to my samsung plasma which has DVI in) I only get an 'Auto' choice for resolution. IF I switch it to 60hz then I also get a 'stdVGA' option in addition to 'Auto' - both yeild the same **** picture.. SO basiclaly via HDMI Its so bad I couldnt use it, and via component its not much better. Such a soft picture is just not acceptable.
