DMA2100 freezing when changing channels

Hi there

Is anyone else having freezing problems on their DMA2100 when changing channels? I have to stop the program before changing channel otherwise I'm pretty likely to get the thing freeze requiring a power cycle of the extender.

The VMC changes channels localy without problem and is all up to date, SP1 installed and is a fresh build. Network is hard wired 100MB to the WRT54G router/switch and in turn to the extender. Flow control is enabled on the RTL8168C NIC. Firmware is up to date on both the router and extender. I'm a bit unsure what to try next.

Any ideas?

Re: DMA2100 freezing when changing channels

Exactly the same problem here, I have a dma2200, had the same problem even before SP1.

Works fine on the MCE directly and with an xbox360 as an extender.

What tuner do you have, mine is 2 X Hauppauge NovaT MCE500 PCI cards (4 total tuners)

I ven tried to reconfig with only one card (2 tuners) and still the same issue.

I get a network error message and the dma2200 locks up, i can only fix it with a power cycle of the dma2200.

I logged a call with linksys today, maybe give them a call and say you are having the same problem, my incident number is 080504-020114

Good luck

Anthony

Re: DMA2100 freezing when changing channels

Hi Anthony

Good to know I'm not the only one out there with this problem, I was begining to think I was the only one.

I'm running a single DNTV twin (USB stick) but I'm pretty sure it's not that as the channels change fine locally.

Do you have any third party codecs or splitters installed? I have ffdshow and some splitters that I will remove tonight and test, I friend just told me that he thinks the splitters are used even when streaming files to the extender which could certainly cause the effect we are seeing.

Re: DMA2100 freezing when changing channels

I am pretty sure the problem is only related to the Linksys Media Centre Extender as everything works fine locally on my MCE as well as on a 2nd extender which is an Xbox360.

Let me know how any testing goes.

I have been testing this for a while and nothing seems to resolve it

Re: DMA2100 freezing when changing channels

well removing the codecs didn't help

I also have a case open with Linksys. Shame it takes so long to get anywhere on the support line. It takes me half an hour just to get to speak to the right people.

if it helps I can give you my case ref so we can cross reference with LinkSys

Re: DMA2100 freezing when changing channels

Update:

I removed all the settings in the extender and rejoined it to my MCE machine. I have been testing for about 10 mins and so far no freeze.

This could be because there was another vista media centre on my network at the time I set mine up, just guessing. Anyway, at the moment all appears to be well.

Dylan

Re: DMA2100 freezing when changing channels

Sad to say after a promising start the old problem is back again

Back to the drawing board.

Re: DMA2100 freezing when changing channels

Same problem here still, mine worked for a day after the settings reset and extender setup again

Doing it again doesn;t seem to help

Is anyone else having this issue?

Re: DMA2100 freezing when changing channels

I too am having this issue. It is driving me crazy.

I dont think that it is network related. My DMA2100 is connected to a gigabit switch. I've tried changing the VMC box to 100/full, I have flow control enabled.

I have no issues on the VMC box watching/recording TV etc.

Very disappointed in the DMA2100, its constant crashing surely means that it is a product that shouldn't have been released yet. Hopefully a firmware update resolves the issue, and adds more codec support - god knows when that will happen.

Re: DMA2100 freezing when changing channels

Moocow,

Maybe you should also log a call to Linksys and quote my Linksys incident number
080504-020114 and mention you are now the third person in Australia with this issue.

Regards,

AM
