dma2200's keep dying?

Hi,

I bought a DMA2200 about a month ago. I plugged it in and everything worked. Great! 2 days later it just stops working, the standby light is no longer on, turning it on and off at the switch doesn't work, turning it on and off at the wall doesn't work.

So I ended up going through a huge RMA process, talking to Linksys people in America, fighting with the PC store who didn't want to switch it, etc. Eventually I get a new one sent to me by the PC store.

I plug it in and it's all working again! 2 weeks later and it dies again. Exact same thing.

Anyone have any ideas what is going on? It is in a well ventilated area, I don't use it that often, I have no idea what this could be.

Has anyone heard of this happening to anyone else?

Any info appreciated because I am dreading going through this RMA process again

Thanks. BJ.

Re: dma2200's keep dying?

hey there

thats a real bummer - I sympathise

2 failing seems like a hell of a coincidence.... I would start to suspect some kind of power spike/surge.

Are you using the same socket or power board? do you have surge arresters/ups at all?

I would test them with other equipment - speaking of which have you had any other similar problems?

Re: dma2200's keep dying?

Hi Jaiidan. It is connected to a surge protected power board. The speakers and LCD TV are also plugged into the same power board. Never had any issues with any other of my electronics. I really am at a loss as to what it can be. I will be asking for a refund from the PC store, but I suspect they will only offer a replacement (after a massive fight again I'm sure).

Re: dma2200's keep dying?

hey again

I`m at a bit of a loss then...could be a dodgy batch I guess . Only real way of proving is to get a refund and try a different source...easier said than done i guess

i went to look at the linksys forum but I see you`ve already posted there

Good luck mate
