DMA2100 wireless network problem

I'm having problems with Vista Ultimate attempting to search for my dma2100.
My current setup is modem -> Belkin N1 Vision wireless router -> switch -> PC
with the dma2100 connected to the router.

When I wired the dma2100 to the switch or the router it seems to work just fine, it responds to ping.
But if I connect through the wireless, media center appears not to be able to find the extender, it does not respond to ping.

I suspect it's a wireless setting problem, however I'm not sure what it could be.
UPNP is enabled.

Any suggestions?

Re: DMA2100 wireless network problem

Check if the Belkin has a firmware update available. It sounds like the wired & wireless networks aren't being correctly bridged.

Re: DMA2100 wireless network problem

The router firmware and the dma firmware are both the latest.

Re: DMA2100 wireless network problem

I threw Belkin an e-mail about the situation.

Their reply:
We are sorry to say that the switch doesn`t have an option to access the wireless signals from the router. the switch is used to connect more number of pc`s. if you want to connect wirelessly you should have a wireless card or wireless adapter installed the computer or laptop.

So apparently i have to always be connected to the router and not the switch. Very unhappy about this.

Edit: Sorry for double post.

Re: DMA2100 wireless network problem

I you really wanted to,

you could bridge the connections on the pc... this would probably mean a wireless adapter though... just a thought...

Re: DMA2100 wireless network problem

Hi,

I'm also having this problem - Belkin N1 MIMO router and DMA2200.

I had the DMA2200 connected to my network through my Belkin 802.11g (iinet ADSL2) router but speed was terrible.

so bought the N1 and haven't been able to connect!

via Ethernet (down the hallway) everything is fine. wireless is driving me crazy! the DMA2200 says it is connected (IP and MAC addresses are allocated and I can see signal strength). but when I check the router and the DHCP client list there is nothing listed under the IP or MAC that have been allocated andmy media centre PC can't detect that there is an extender on the network.

have been on the phone with both Belkin and Linksys for hours but have no fix!

all firmware is up to date...

is there anything else I can try???
