So I just recently found the DMA2100 and DMA2200. The problem is I don't have a Windows Media Center Computer. Just regular XP home. I also have a Ubuntu Linux Server that I use to share files in my network. Will I be able to use this device even though I don't have a Media Center Computer? And will the device be able to retrieve media from the Linux server if the server shares to windows networks? Thanks for the help.
The DMA2100/2200 will serve media from a compatable UPNP device such as Windows Media Player, NAS Box, etc.
What it won't do is serve live tv from a Vista Media Centre (Home premium/Ultimate).
All the "extender interface" does is allow you to view liveTV and control the guide (it does a bit more that is the general jist of it).

Unless there is some hidden menu that I haven't been able to find, then the DMA2100 is a Vista Media Center extender only.
I'm happy to be corrected, but I can't find any other way to access content - that's why I asked why there is a USB port on it in another thread. There doesn't seem to be any way to play content off a USB drive in the software.
Besides that, if you're not going to use the Media Center Extender part, there are plenty of better options for a streaming media player.
