Even More problem with DMA2100

OK. So I found one other person with the remote not working with their telly so I know I am not the only one.
The POS device says that it recognises learning about my panasonic TV but it doesn't. ****ty ****ty ****ty.

My other problem I cannot find anyone with this. I setup the extender fine, but every time i turn it off and back on it fails to find the media centre PC and I have to go through the bloody setup again (6 time and counting). I have not disabled the FW on vista yet. Will do at my next opportunity. This is really ****ing my off. No I don't have a network issue. My setup is a crossover cable between the 2 devices. It doesn't get any simpler.

Ideas anyone.

Thanks
Sailing

I'm sorry, but this is hardly the end of the world. It clearly can't replicate the commands of your TV - there are masses or IR codes out there, it's not reasonable to think that every device will handle every one.

How is your network IP addressing set up? Is the PC doing internet connection sharing? You'd be terr off setting both items with a fixed IP & set the PC's address as the DNS server address.

Re: Even More problem with DMA2100

Hello Justin,

Thanks for the info. The pc and extender have static addresses.
The media pc and extender are not connected to the internet so no sort of sharing going on.

I find it quite disapointing that the remote does not function as advertised. No where does it say in any of their doc that it may not work with your equipment.

I am awaiting a response from support. I do hope they have a solution.

Thanks
Sailing.

Sorry if this seems obvious but did you download and install the Microsoft Vista Extender update? Also did you install the software on the supplied disk on the MCE box? Personally I am not sure just what is on the disk but on my first install I had issues when I didn't install it.

Re: Even More problem with DMA2100

Ah yes and Yes.

I disabled the wonderful windows firewall and all is well.
Now if it would only shutdown like it was before I did the update!!
I guess I will have to use that software that other people use to get Vista to go to bed like a good little boy.

Thanks for you assistance.

Cheers
Sailing.
