Re: Next Gen Extenders Arriving in Nov (Linksys US)
looks interesting and its fantastic to see these things finally coming to production. I'm personally alot more interested in the niveus offerings, hopefully alot more high end, but hopefully well under AU$2000.
Anything that can play divx and is quieter than the xbox360 would be a bonus tho. gotta say tho, at least the xbox360 is extremely stable as far as the OS goes. Having lots of other experiences with linksys, i'm somehow skeptical that their implementation will be as good from a software stability perspective.
would be great to see something available in time to add it to the christmas wish-list.

i saw this on the d-link website a couple of weeks ago too, but despite its name its says nothing about it interworking with vista media centre, thus prolly means d-link GUI, and no live TV - ie, doesnt come close to a real vista media centre extender. that said, d-link are on the list to release a real extender, so i'll wait for that before i start lobbying for it to be released in australia.
like i said before tho, i am really waiting for a 1/2 decent consumer electronics brand like pioneer or onkyo to release a media centre. i'm sure its a fair way off, but i really hold out hope it will happen. i was in bangkok a few months back and saw a high end (AU$3K+) pioneer amp that streamed AV via windows media player. i think onkyo and their high-end big brother integra have had similar stabs at things too. i hope perhaps in the mean time niveus lives up to expectation and delivers something really good.

Ahh, well that depends on what you class as 'worse' I guess.
I can only talk from experience.
Never really had too many problems with Linksys (except for their horrible exterior designs).
Dlink on the other hand just remind me of No-Frills technology.
Not a DL fan at all. Had too many bad run ins with their stuff.
It all comes down to what you are used to I guess, and I just would never provide Dlink goods for my customers. I dont find that it lives up to my beatings

Mate, you need to try a little bit harder to keep up: the DSM-750 IS a V2 extender as has just been announced. Amilwain and I just told you that, but here you are still hanging onto your outdated and incorrect assumption.

I even posted a link to the MCX firmware for the 750 the other day: ftp://ftp.dlink.com/medialounge/MCXII - it's been around since November last year.
