I've had a couple of ideas for some MCE plugins, specifically to suit Australia and formatted to match MCE's default eye candy (like Impact's iWeather plugin (Impact, how is that going anyway?)) ... havn't seen 'em enywhere else so I thought I'd verbalise my thoughs here. My ideas are related to the daily grind of commuting to & from work by car (esp in Melbourne) and intended to be quickly checked before leaving of a morning (esp when the wife already has the tv going while having breakfast):
Drive Time Info - a plugin to grab drive time data from, say, traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au (or whatever your state's equivalent is) and display summarised results. Save a pefered route so you get only the info you need with a minimum of fuss. ie. if the Monash fwy is gunna be a carpark, I'll go a different way... or should I say, on the rare occasion that it
isn't a carpark, I go that way
Petrol Price - scrapes data from a site like
www.motormouth.com.au and displays the cheapest pertol available according to your preferneces. It would be handy to see the results from a saved list of suburbs (along your normal commute route) to know where the cheapest fule is gunna be.
If I had any idea how to write code, I'd give it a go myself. But since I haven't written anything since the days of C in DOS, I way outta my depth with todays languages. Maybe someone else might be inspired enough to give it a go.... any volunteers?
