Media Center
Is Max resolution of built-in display limiting factor

Hi All,

the maximum resolution available on the built-in display of my laptop is (from memory) 1650x1050. What I'm wondering is if this is a limitation of the display or the graphics card (ATI x1800 Mobility Radeon) because until I get pre-approval budget-wise from my financier for a dedicated media centre machine, my laptop will be the media centre.

The machine does have a DVI out and I'm wondering if/when I connect this machine to a 1080p tv using DVI-HDMI, whether I will be able to get the full 1080p when playing HD content - or whether I should really care about a few hundred lines given that most content is not 1080p.

thanks

Matt
