Running out of disk space

I like my VMC so much I started ripping DVD's and am now running out of disk space.

I have two firewire ports (as well as the obligatory plethora of USB ports). I would like to buy one or two big disks (upto a TB each) and enclosures to connect to my ports (preferably firewire but would like the option of having an enclosure that can connect to both).

I want reliability and understand that there may fans and multiple power sources required though I'd like to reduce the space and power points used (ONLY if possible). I have seen http://www.kayellaustralia.com.au/DROBO/ and like the look it is too expensive ($780 just for an enclosure and software smarts)

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Re: Running out of disk space

Not sure about the Officeworkz ones, but that price should be found at most places give or take a little. I got a couple of WD Greenpower 16mb drives from MWave for $179 ... didnt need the cases but they are only $10-20.

If you have room always get better performance plugging directly to controller.

Coolies
