Dual Cores not showing in task manager Vista

I have a dual core VMC PC, on in the task manager Processors I see only one graph for the CPU. In Device manager I see 2 entries for the CPU cores.

Does this mean I am only using one core?
Should I see the 2 cores in task manager (Processors) graph and if so how do do I see/use the second core?

Re: Dual Cores not showing in task manager Vista

Yes, you should see both cores.

In device manager, what type of PC is your's listed as? It should be ACPI x86-based PC (I think).

G'Day,

You will also need to make sure that Task Manager is actually asked to show both cores.

From Task Manager View Menu, Select CPU History and ensure that you have "One Graph per CPU" selected

Re: Dual Cores not showing in task manager Vista

When Windows was installed, did you have the Dual Core CPU installed? or have you upgraded the computer from a single Core to a Dual Core?

Re: Dual Cores not showing in task manager Vista

Fixed it thanks to this thread

http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-108...sageID=2356944

After I ticked the "detect HAL" box and restarted the "found new hardware" install process initiated. I now can see both cores and they are not maxed out to 100%
