Silverstone LC18 Standard + Vista 64

Hi guys,

I'm hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction. I recently purchased a LC18 that had been listed as the 64-bit compatible variant but when I received it, I found out that this was not the case (geddit? ) after failing to get the touchscreen to work in 64-bit Vista Ultimate.

I contacted the seller and he confirmed that he had copied and pasted the description of the 64-bit compatible LC18 from an online retailer, not knowing that there were two different variants of the same case.

Anyway before I take up on his offer of a refund, I was wondering if someone has figured a way of getting the touchscreen to function properly under Vista 64?

Thanks!

Re: Silverstone LC18 Standard + Vista 64

I had looked at this case a while ago, and from what I read there was no 'fix' to get the non-64bit screen working with 64bit. the main reason was my primary supplier of goods did not have (and didn't want to) have the 64bit screen.

On a side note, you like the case?

Re: Silverstone LC18 Standard + Vista 64

The case is lovely; it's well-built, spacious, has plenty of cavities to tuck your cables away, has good airflow and does a reasonable job at containing the noise.

The touchscreen is very sharp, bright and vivid and I'm gutted that I can't get the touch functionality going under Vista 64. I was disappointed that a premium case like this doesn't come with the front USB/input module that Silverstone are selling seperately.

I paid $700 for it which included a Silverstone 600W T50F PSU and express shipping so it was a bit of steal. The seller has offered to refund $150 for me to keep the case so that would bring it down to $550 if I go that route.

The case was intended to be a long-term investment; it will be housing a low-power-consuming server/htpc system. The benefits of 64-bit OS's may not be significant presently but it's still nice to know that I have a case that will function in any operating system environment.

Re: Silverstone LC18 Standard + Vista 64

after buying a an17(no screan) and using vista 64 bit, i noticed my system loads faster, runs faster, though the tri core amd 2.3 gig@ and 4 gig ram also helped.

in a nut shell, would NOT GO BACK to 32 for a HTPC. some programs like bigpond downloader dont work, but all my basics(nvidia, mobo, hauppagen tuner) anti virus, itunes etc...all work fine.

its not for games,so i dont care.
