Rack Case to fit 19" Rack 600mm Deep

Hi

Does anyone know of any rack mount case that will fit into 600mm deep 19" Rack. I don't have the space to put in a 800mm deep rack and all of the rack cases I can find any cases to fit a 600mm rack.

Or at least a decent (non HTPC) desktop case.

Cheers
Andrew

Re: Rack Case to fit 19" Rack 600mm Deep

Chenbro make some nice rack cases that aren't as deep as a normal 660mm.

You haven't said how many RU you're after, but I've had my eye on this 1U case for a home server: http://www.chenbro.com/corporatesite...l.php?serno=55

It's only 569mm deep, and has 4 hot swappable SATA drive bays in the front. Not sure if anyone stocks it locally though, and it sounds like even that's not going to be short enough for you.

The only problem with these tightly packed cases are that they typically use a whole swag of 40mm fans to keep the heat down, so they sound like a jet fighter....OK if your rack is hidden away in a closet or basement, but no good if it's in a study like mine is.

Good luck, and if you find something good, please report back.

Re: Rack Case to fit 19" Rack 600mm Deep

Sorry all, I think I have mis lead with the title. I am looking for a case that is only 400mm ish deep so if into a rack that is 600mm deep which is 400mm front rail to back rail and 500mm to the back of the rack.

The case can be any size upto 4RU and I will need 2 of them. One for my Linux Server and one for the Windows Home Server that I am about to build. The only requirement for the WHS case is that it holds 4-6 SATA drives.

If I find a suitable case I will report back.

Andrew

Re: Rack Case to fit 19" Rack 600mm Deep

What about looking at the Intel SC5299xx cases?

http://www.intel.com/products/server...e-overview.htm

They come in a rack mount design or pedestal design.

480mm x 235mm x 440mm (depth x width x height) or 450mm without the front bezel on, support for hotswap SATA / SAS (6 bays).

If you cant find anything, you could get a couple of rack shelves made up to specification - not too hard to get some 2.5 mm steel cut / bent to size with appropriate holes cut so that you can affix them to the rack - then slide the case onto the shelf.
