Re: Laptop Hard Drive in a Media Centre

I would definately agree that the 5400rpm drives are slower. Ran a test on my 7200rpm lappy drive apposed to my 7200rpm desktop drives and the performance was very close, desktop getting just ahead .. perhaps the larger cache or controller on the desktop PC improves performance a bit also.

I would doubt you would see any difference using a 2.5 over 3.5 if you go for a 7200rpm speed.
