Media Centre Remote not working

My windows remote has stopped working and I am doing my brain in trying to fathom out the problem. The red light in the receiver is on all the time which is wrong. On the intial install it was fine. If someone can shed some light I would be grateful.

Check the batteries.

Re: Media Centre Remote not working

I used to have this problem amount onece every three months (I don't use the native MCE remote anymore so I don't have the problem anymore). You need to take out the batteries for at least 10 minutes. Reinsert the batteries and it will work again. It's weird but it happens to all the MCE remotes.

Re: Media Centre Remote not working

Thank you for the reply .. unfortunately it didn't work for me

I noticed while doing this that the light on the receiver stays on even while batteries on both keyboard and remote are removed ... Also, when I carried the receiver to the other side of the room it went off for a moment (but returned). I'm wondering whether its related to the tv as I read on another page somewhere that plasmas can affect them.

The main thing is though that nothing in the room had changed, so I'm thinking that the receiver has just gone mad !
