PxDVR3200H Remote

I have a PxDVR3200H running with Vista Ultimate x64 and am having trouble with the Leadtek remote control. I have installed the WinFast software and configured it to use the remote for VMC. To start with it works ok, but after a while it seems that every press of a button on the remote results in two commands given to VMC.
E.g. if I press the button that changes channel, it will skip a channel. Or the button that changes from full screen to windowed mode just swaps straight back again.
After a while of this it seems that instead of processing the same button twice immediately, it will repeat the last action the next time you press the button.
E.g. if you press the button that lowers the volume, it will work, but if you then press the button to change the channel, it will lower the volume again instead.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the WinFast software, but to no avail. I even reinstalled Vista last night thinking that it might be an incompatibility with other software I have installed. The remote worked fine last night and this morning, but when I got home tonight it started playing up again.
Has anyone else noticed problems with their remote? Could it be a problem with Vista x64? I would like to make sure that the issue is with this particular remote (and not anything else) so that I can either fix it (if it is a simple thing) or purchase a different remote without worrying that it will have the same or similar issues.
