Antec Fusion vs Antec Fusion Remote HTPC

Hi

Does anybody know the differences between these two?

Here it is at stonebridge the price difference is quite significant but the specs seem the same:

Antec Fusion Black $263.99
http://www.stonebridgecomputing.com..../-p-10132.html

Antec Remote HTPC Case black $215.59
http://www.stonebridgecomputing.com..../-p-17570.html

The 'Remote' Case isnt in until August 22 so perhaps it is a new model. But I failed to find any reviews anywhere or any articles on its release.

Re: Antec Fusion vs Antec Fusion Remote HTPC

There's no mention of a power supply in the specs for the 'remote' case, but there is mention of a remote. So maybe they're bringing in a new model sans psu but with a remote to go with the receiver. Pure speculation, though.

Give the shop a call and find out.

Re: Antec Fusion vs Antec Fusion Remote HTPC

I think TheRob might be on the money and if so this case looks promising for my current needs. I have a power supply already and want a black case with an inbuilt IR receiver.

Re: Antec Fusion vs Antec Fusion Remote HTPC

I rung stonebridge up today

They seemed to have no answers or much information on the remote htpc. All they know is that it is due to come in August 22.

They did say as soon as they get information on the product they will email me. It might just be a Fusion without the PSU, but it seems over priced if thats the case. And it doesnt explain why its not in until August 22.

I guess I will wait for their word and report back here.

Re: Antec Fusion vs Antec Fusion Remote HTPC

I know there has been a lot of pleading to Antec to offer the Fusion cases without power supplies, so it wouldn't surprise me if they've gone down that route. Certainly the specs of the 'remote' cases on the Antec site no longer mention PSUs & if you look at the comparison PDF, there is no tick in the 80Plus Certified Column.

Re: Antec Fusion vs Antec Fusion Remote HTPC

Guys, just bought both cases yesterday from centrecom (one for myself and one for a friend) and the only diff is as what was mentioned above the remote version comes with no PSU (to my surprise, then I had to go back to get a PSU) I was told that this will be replacing the regular fusion. I was charged 220 each no price diffrence whether it had a PSU or remote, personally I think they should have included a PSU, the same PSU is available sepretaly at about 50 bucks. I also have the NSK 2400b which is basically the same except it has no infrared reciever or display it uses the same chasis design, fans and PSU and it whisper quite and at $100 @ centrecom you cant go wrong with that case either is is still my favourite.

Re: Antec Fusion vs Antec Fusion Remote HTPC

I have the fusion remote black, also from centrecom. Took them a while to get it in, like weeks and weeks.

It's a great case, apart from the no PSU issue. I had a couple of 440w lying around anyway. It's possibly the quietest case I've dealt with, and the remote is wonderful to use after getting used to it.

I too think the Antec Fusion (Black in my case) is a superbly quiet case for the money (considerable increase in WAF over previous one) but I'm interested to see if you guys got an MCE remote working properly - most things work with the inbuilt IR but the volume stubbornly refuses to work for me. The most recent driver (on the Antec website) is over a year old and has not helped.

You could try the drivers from the Soundgraph website. During setup, just install the iMON stuff and leave the iMEDIAN stuff out.

There's also an Antec specific forum where you might get some more help with specific issues.
