Re: Known fault with Logitech DiNovo Mini with Vista

Akseli - I have Vista Home Premium 32-bit so it appears that the problem is related to the product, not the OS.

Travesso - Thanks for the link, however I don't think I want to be waiting around for this fix. It's still not going to resolve the issue of the dodgy down button. I've already raised a warranty to get an RMA# with PCCaseGear.

I'm going to be wary of Logitech products in the future. I've also read that the diNovo Edge has numerous problems, and I know people who have had problems with Harmony remotes in the past as well. Very disappointing from a company of their stature if you ask me.

Re: Known fault with Logitech DiNovo Mini with Vista

Fatrabbit,

In response to your query before, I just use the sleep command on the Dinovo Mini to wake it up again and it has always worked fine for me. The down arrow business is a little bit touchy i suppose, but with my experiences with mine, it generally works, just sometimes I press ok instead of down. I have Rev4 of the product, if your down button is not working properly I would check what version you have as I belive Rev4 was released to improve the functionality of the down arrow. (There is a sticker inside the box that said Rev4 on mine). If you have an earlier version it might explain your down arrow angst? Good luck!

Re: Known fault with Logitech DiNovo Mini with Vista

my diNovo stops responding and its a PITA.. Im on x64 vista and have setppoint 4.6

Sometimes I have to take battery out and put back in to get it working, but other times I flick the little switch between mouse mode and up/down/left/right mode.

Also, i swear that sometimes it only works in some directions - down is a PITA and it doesnt matter where you put your finger it doesnt work.. I really think its a software/firmware issue rather than hardware issue thou.

Re: Known fault with Logitech DiNovo Mini with Vista

Thanks for the link Travesso! I hope the firmware update will be handled swiftly. As the Logitech specialist says, it is a synchronization issue between the keyboard and the connector... I'm not a wireless technology specialist, but my 2 cents are that it has something to do with optimizing the battery time - when the mini is idle, the lights go out and for sure after a period of time the BT connection also, which is probably tuned to be a little "too" energy-efficient.

Yesterday I tried the 6-step process for updating the logitech HID keyboard driver for my issue with no keyboard and mouse tabs in setpoint 4.6. Although my HTPC did not find any better drivers, the tabs magically appeared to the software! I also installed UberOptions (not UberInstall as I said the name to be in the previous post, sorry) and it seems to work very well. Now for some fine-tuning with AutoHotKey (http://www.autohotkey.com/) and the combo should serve well. Assuming, of course, that Logitech gets Mini to work

I gave the secondary BT dongle also a try, couldn't get the mini to respond to it.

Re: Known fault with Logitech DiNovo Mini with Vista

I will give the firmware a go tonight.. I have two mini dongles in my media center PC.. one for the dinovo mini and one for the full size dinovo.. So I will see if the firmware see's the dongles and if it stuffs them up. eek:

Re: Known fault with Logitech DiNovo Mini with Vista

I've been following this discussion because I am having post-setpoint 4.6 issues with a Dinovo Edge. It freezes up every half hour or so and starts again after a minute or 2. Very annoying. Few questions. How do you change the firmware on the BT dongle? Where do you get it? Has anyone tried it yet?

The only thing I have done that has any effect is uninstalling setpoint altogether which reduces the number of instances a lot and their severity but doesnt get rid of the problem altogether. Searching around it seems that there are a lot of different issues with Setpoint 4.6 across a number of products.

Re: Known fault with Logitech DiNovo Mini with Vista

from what i understand there is no link as such

forgive me i'm not in fround of my own pc so these might be a little vague
in setpoint under one of the tabs i think its "about" from memory there is a button saying check for latest firmware

this button connects automatical. to logitechs ftp site and downloads and installes the latest formware on the dongle

i'll try and giveyou all a better set of instructions to workfrom

Re: Known fault with Logitech DiNovo Mini with Vista

well, i just installed that crappy piece of software known as SetPoint and i couldn't find anything to do with updating the firmware.

there is an option for updates, but thats just the setpoint software, not the BT Dongle firmware...

Re: Known fault with Logitech DiNovo Mini with Vista

I wish I had read this thread prior to me purchasing this product.

I too have been experiencing the synchronisation dropouts, and the down arrow key on the clickpad is very intermittent in its response.

After reading the details on this thread, I was surprised and very dissapointed that Logitech know about this fault and the best solution they can provide is to do a hard reset of the DiNovo.

Very poor form logitech, for releasing such a buggy and obviously untested product to the market, and providing very minimal support. There is A report on the logitech thread that by calling phone support they will help you out, I am going to try this option this arve and I will let you know I how go.
